PSHE at STANLEY ROAD
PSHE in our school
PSHE Education is an embedded part of our broad and balanced curriculum. In doing so, we work with the school community – pupils, parents, staff and governors.
Our curriculum offer is developed using the SCARF scheme of work and our intent is to be supportive of our children so that they become healthy and responsible members of society, as well as preparing them for life and work in modern Britain.
Using SCARF ensures that we are delivering an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum that caters for the children’s moral, social and cultural development at Stanley Road.
You may know that from September 2020, the Government has decided that all primary age children will be taught Relationships and Health Education (RHE), although they have given schools some flexibility on when they fully implement the new curriculum until summer term 2021 due to the disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
As part of our preparation to deliver these new requirements, we have worked hard to make sure that the resources and materials that we will use to do this are right for both our children and our school community. As required by the Government, we have consulted with parents and carers on our approach to this, specifically around our Relationships Education curriculum and policy.
More information can be found on our RHSE page.

In Early Years, PSHE is one of the prime areas of the statutory framework and it is crucial to us for our children to live happy and healthy lives. We support the children to develop effective relationships with their peers and adults, feel safe and secure in their environment, learn how to lead a healthy life and manage their independence as part of our daily routines.
